Born in England, Andrew Beck is an Ottawa based oil painter. Often pulling from film and photographs of the second half of the 20th century, Beck mines history. He crops and combines images to construct new scenes which form the starting point of his paintings. His works are fragments of stories, frozen moments of action, that never fully resolve, always leaving a sensation of uncertainty. He has exhibited across the US, Canada, UK and Germany, his works are now held in various private and public collections.
