The clients are empty nesters who (at the time) travelled a lot. She was born in Monaco and he is Italian/dutch and this is their primary home. The apartment is on the 5th floor of the building but because the high-rise is built into the cliff side, as is very common in Monaco they have an unobstructed view of the harbor and the “Rocher” in the front and are just above street lever in the back of the apartment. The building is situated in the neighborhood called “Jardin Exotique” which is the namesake for the famous botanical garden located on a cliffside.

They had several pieces they wanted integrated in the new design, namely some antiques and art pieces amongst other things. I wanted to create a design that would embody both my clients and the challenge was to amalgamate both their tastes. He has a more classical taste, and she tends towards a more modern style.
It was also important to combine the antiques (his) and the art (hers).
